1) XはYです

〜です is used to link the subject with a predicate, it is usually used with nouns and adjectives. It is used to add politeness to the sentence. It means “It is…” or “This is…” in English. The は particle is called as topic marker particle It indicates what the sentence is about or what the speaker wants to focus on.

Example

• 私は学生です 「わたしはがくせいです」- I’m a student
• 私はインド人です「わたしはインドじんです」- I’m an Indian
• 私のお仕事はデベロッパーです 「わたしのおしごとはデベロッパーです」- My job is developer

2)〜か Question sentences

The question sentences in Japanese is formed by adding かat end of a sentence.

Example

• お名前はなんですか 「おなまえはなんですか」- What is your name?
• 晩ごはんを食べましたか 「ばんごはんをたべましたか」- Did youeat dinner?
• 明日は金曜日ですか 「あしたはきんようびですか」- Is tommorow is friday?
• 好きな趣味は何ですか 「すきなしゅみはなんですか」- What is your favourite hobby?
• 今何時ですか 「いまなんじですか」- What time is it now?

3) Noun1 の Noun2

The の particle is used to connect two nouns. It can also be used as a possessive particle to denote something belongs to someone.

Example

• かなさんのパソコンです -It is Mr Kana’s PC.
• 大学の先生です 「だいがくのせんせいです」ー A University professor.
• 日本語の学生です 「にほんごのがくせいです」ー A Japanese language student.
• 私の携帯電いです 「わたしのけいたい」ー It is my cellphone.
• 最近見た映画は「言の葉の庭です」ー Recently watched move is “The Garden of words”

4) Time(時間) in Japanese

• いちじ — 1'o clock
• にじ — 2'o clock
• さんじ — 3'o clock
• よじ — 4'o clock
• ごじ — 5'o clock
• ろくじ — 6'o clock
• しちじ — 7'o clock
• はちじ — 8'o clock
• くじ — 9'o clock
• じゅうじ — 10'o clock
• じゅういちじ — 11'o clock
• じゅうにじ — 12'o clock
• くじはん — 9:30
